ICE has expanded student deportation powers. According to reporting from Inside Higher Ed, the Trump administration has outlined updated immigration policies regarding student visas, which expand immigration officials’ authority to potentially terminate a student’s status in SEVIS. This comes on the heels of successful litigation by students and legal advocates across the U.S. that has successfully resulted in reinstatements of their SEVIS status that was previously terminated. The administration is continuing to attack our students and immigrant communities. Continue to check the CEAC website to learn if your SEVIS was terminated or if your SEVIS record was reinstated.
