Student Visa Revocations: What Is Happening?
What is happening? How are you preparing? Let's get into this week's updates.
Welcome back to SJN!
We launched our PNW specific newsletter earlier this week, check it out! We have also added new tabs on our resources tracker for PNW specific resources and resources for student organizers starting rapid response networks. We have also partnered with Sanctuary & Popular University Network to host a newsletter to share updates and resources, starting with their new toolkit.
As the number of visa revocations increases it is important to build community and educate ourselves and others.
We have seen the power of community education. Regardless of your immigration status, knowing your rights can protect you and your community. If you are concerned about your immigration status, PLEASE CONSULT AN ATTORNEY. It is vital to get accurate, timely, and case-specific legal assistance to best protect yourselves moving forward.
Some things to keep in mind:
Do you know your local ICE Watch Hotline number?
Do you know who to contact at your university or in your community for assistance if your SEVIS is terminated and/or your visa is revoked?
Are you plugged in and supporting your local rapid response network?
Knowing the answers to these questions and more can help guide how to respond to upcoming rapid response needs on our campuses and in our communities.
