Reporting from Zeteo News outlines the student visa revocation process, highlighting the unilateral decision by ICE to revoke the visa without the university’s knowledge.
National AAUP released a list of recommended demands to present to university administrators. The twelve demands range from demanding public affirmation to protect academic freedom and free speech to not engaging in anticipatory obedience which will lead to censorship and control.

ANAR, ForAyşenur, and The Rachel Corrie Foundation released a post in solidarity with Rümeysa Öztürk and uplifted a call to action from Jewish Voice for Peace. CALL TO ACTION: Call Congress to demand the release of student activists targeted for deportation. Rümeysa Öztürk is a graduate worker at Tufts University in Boston who was abducted by the U.S. and illegally transported to an ICE detention center in Louisiana. For our students who have been detained please flood all avenues of outreach to ALL of your elected officials.
Our team at SJN recommends starting to plan community rapid response and community defense. Plug into existing local immigrant defense organizations, help you friends, and help us resist the forced disappearing and abductions of our student organizers. Check out SJN’s infographic from last week.

Uplift corner is space to help uplift organizations that are creating resources, offering assistance, and more. Making these resources and providing this education to our communities can be time consuming and un-funded work for a lot of these organizations. Rümeysa Öztürk, a Fulbright scholar and Tufts University graduate student residing in Massachusetts on a valid student visa who is detained by ICE for advocating for human rights and dignity for all. Rümeysa is now in a detention center in Louisiana, far from her friends, university community and her attorneys making her legal defense very difficult. Her legal team and friends are working urgently to secure Rümeysa’s immediate release and her safe return home. Donate today and join them as they fight for justice for Rümeysa Öztürk!
